What work are you looking for ? J

  5. Hi, We have not had much luck renting since we arrived over 2 years ago. We have used two agents and a private landlord, so you have our sympathy. It's the only thing that has put a damper on our move here. Can I just ask where you found this rental originally i.e realestate.com or gumtree etc. All the best R&J

  11. Hi all, We are in the process in completing our 887 visa application and have been asked to supply confirmation that our eldest & remaining child who lives and works in the UK, has had a UK police check, medical & copy of his birth certificate. He is 25 and plans to join us in a few years once he has had a few more years of work experience. My questions are, why does he need them if he is not migrating yet and what does this mean for him in terms of a visa/ sponsorship etc. Would be grateful if anyone can help. thanks in advance J

Hello I go to Rachel (the owner) at Sisco Hair & Beauty on Military Road, Henley Beach and have been really happy with the service and my hair. Jo

  19. Hi all Thanks to everyone for their experiences. We are loving our life here in Adelaide, it has been an emotional journey but up to now one we are glad we made. So now the count down begins to next years holiday to sunny Scunnie, Donnie & Leeds
  20. Hello and good luck with everything. We came on a 489 visa and are just coming up to our first year here and up to now, no regrets. Jo
  21. On the 2nd September we will have been in Adelaide a year (1 year update to follow). We are settling into our new life here in Adelaide and were not expecting to return to the UK on holiday for at least a couple of years, or maybe longer. But my younger and only Brother is getting married on 5th July 2015 and I would love to be there to help him celebrate his wedding day. Has anyone else been back to the UK within the first two years of emigrating and if so did it make you realise you had made the best decision moving to Australia or did it make the homesickness worse & make you yearn for the UK even more.:confused:
  22. Just booked our tickets to see GREASE - The Musical, at Adelaide Festival Theatre on 31st August. Anyone wanting to reminisce from watching GREASE growing up and fancy a sing-a-long to songs like You're the one that I want, Grease is the word, Summer nights, hopelessly devoted to you, Sandy & Greased lighnin ....................... then this is for you. To all the partners being dragged along to watch it, enjoy !!
  23. Especially like Le Sprinte finish, S'like Doncaster races , brings back some fond memories from home. Had some good times at Donnie Races. We will be looking out for my brother-in-law and his girlfriend with their bright green & white spotted Skoda "Santos Tour Down Under" hats on, that we sent them from when we went to watch it in Adelaide in January.
  24. Hello i have one that we bought in the UK and shipped it over with our furniture and I can definitely recommend it. One of the things I am glad I fetched. Jo
  25. Hello We are on a 489 visa and we have not experienced any problems so far. We have both got jobs, in public schools the costs have been the same as if we were on a permanent visa and as we are from the UK there is a recepricol agreement Medicare card. Don't think it covers podiatry, physo, dentist etc so you would probably need private health care for those. Someone might come along and advise you better on that. We got ambulance cover and up to now have had no problems renting etc. The only thing you would need to look into which doesn't affect us is college/uni fees on a 489, not sure if you have to pay international school fees for that.
