  1. My experience when I called them after waiting for the grant decision for some weeks after the medical I was told simply to wait. And that afyer being on hold for like close to an hour. If your medicals habe gone through mayne check on the website to see if there are any updates on the 190 quota allocation. Our medicals were done just as the quota was being reached so they were granting only a few at a time in line with how many allocations were still available
  2. The beach at Port MacDonnell is a 30min drive away. So not too bad but obviously not as good as your situation in the UK
  3. Then go to the embassy I suppose
  4. I know. But what I meant is that even if we lose our passports a call to immigration can bring up the visa details by search of name, dob, address etc
  5. Our visas are electronic so there is no stamp in passport. I guess yours is different.
  6. And also if you restrict yourself to Adelaide it's harder because most people live there. If you are flexible you can get employment in regional areas. I intended to be in Adelaide but had an interview in Mt Gambier a week after arriving (had been called for an interview whilst in the UK) and got offeres the job so I ended up here.
  7. When I got here I was advised they prefer resumes to CVs
  8. The 30° days are not always warm throughout. Its topsy turvy
  9. Yes I am in Mt Gambier. The place is renowned for having up to 3 seasons in a day. So when it says max 19, it could start of very cold, warm up a bit to 19 for a couple of hours then become windy for 3 4 hours before temp drop again
  10. Been here 4 weeks and I have to agree the weather is pathetic, windy and cold most of the time......and here I was thinking I had escaped the cold British weather. Aside from this its a lovely town. Very quiet and calm with decent schools and houses especially in the newly built up areas
  11. Hi guys. Anyone know much about Mt Gambier. What surbubs are the best i.e. proximity to good schools, local amenities, peace and quiet, good and affordable houses etc. Thanks
  12. You are almost there. Keep the faith
  13. Hi guys just checking how we are all getting on. I landed in Adelaide 3 weeks ago and have been job hunting. Anyone walked into a job yet? Best wishes to all
  14. Mine were collected by Pickfords from the UK last week. They said 12-13 weeks. Hope they dont delay like yours have
  15. Hi Give me your email address and I can send you some useful docs regarding cvs and covering letters
  16. Yeah I have. Also fortunate that I will be staying with my friend when I arrive
  17. I am a forester/environmental officer
  18. I'coming out August 15th. What's the turnaroundin getting a job. Could I be in employment by mid Sept
  19. Wow.....the wait was long but kiching:cool: you're in. Congrats
  20. Congrats mate. Now the upheaval begins [emoji1]
  21. That is encouraging. I have read some posts that make it sound like Adelaide is a city full of unemployed people. And I would wonder how that could be the case with a million people plus. Some statistics I read put the unemployment rate at around ~7% which is a % point higher than the other bigger cities so it cant be as bad as some would like us to believe
