  5. Hey dont give up hope man.We found ourselves in a similar situation 2 years agoo when they dropped the pathway-d option for skilled independent visas,on top of that we were battling through the courts to adopt two children that we fostered and have a son with special needs who's medicals we had a nightmare with, needless to say we never gave up and arrived in adelaide in june after nearly 3 years of battling. We ended up getting an employer sponsorship which is probably the route you should look at going down,if you need any advice or encouragement just pm me only happy to help...............please dont give up on your dream though!
  6. Yep we have noticed it too,we arrived at the end of June and looked at many houses in the north east and judging from the photo's we were not surprised that they took shots of random objects instead of full rooms as most of the rentals we looked at were run down and scruffy. We even went to one one evening and it was dark, the electricity was off and the agent was trying to give us a guided tour with, wait for it,,,,'A CIGARETE LIGHTER!'.So yes there are lots of gaps in the market for lots of things regarding estate agents ,particularly the pics and most certainly they need to be able to recognise wether a hous is actualy fit for rental in the first place. Before anyone has a whinge I mean all this in the most light-hearted way possible, but once you get here you will underastand what I mean.
  7. and if you think I am repeating myself its because my mrs wrote the first post and I didnt actualy read what she had put
  8. yes we started off in the tee tree hotel but it was friday night and as we are 80's fans and have just hit our 40's it got a bit loud for us around 9.30 so we took ourselves off over the road and had a few quiet ones in the Fox and Firkin,,must say we quite enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and actualy met another couple who came from the next village from us back in blighty, amazing! Looking forward to many more friday nights in there as we are lucky enough to live only 5 minutes walk away,,makes the $8.00 a pint,,,,(and yes it is an actual imperial measure pint!) all the more worth it,,n.b the great Australian pizza company about 2oo yds (yds not metres) away do the best pizzas I have ever had,,and a 12 inch is only 7 bucks! lol
  9. We are also Banksia Parkers.....................moved into our rental 2 weeks ago and liking the area up to now! Been here for 7 weeks altogether. Children are all at Banksia International High and loving it...............:v_SPIN: Ventured out for our first night on the razz on Friday............and ended up in the Fox and Firkin......on North East Road and met another couple from the UK who actually lived 2 miles away from us so they had our accents..........AND we had pint glasses! could life get any better!
  10. Yes we have done that ................... just waiting on one house - up for rent soon but still not giving out a open viewing date. We have seen some nice houses but some real horrors too......... Thanks anyway - was just giving it a shot maybe to cut out the middle man.........but Realestate is defo the way to go...
  11. We are looking for a 4 bed or large 3 bed house to rent in Bansia Park or surrounding areas, help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. We booked through travelbag.co.uk and came out through singapore, cheapest price and probably best way to come, although you are probably better off ringing them rather than going through the website as I am surre it does not give you the option of doing a one way booking online. We also got a 40 kg baggage allowance per person all you have to do is e-mail the visa page of your pass port,Singapore airlines were great and realy looked after us,we did an 18 hour stop over in the transit hotel which was good as we were absolutely shattered when we got to singapore, was only 60 quid a room but was a real good breather for us and the kids
  13. Hope you find the time to allow me to tell you the situation we have........ Presently I am living and working as a laminate flooring layer in the Uk and also do carpets, cushion floor etc. I have been employed in this sector since leaving school which is approximately 25 years now. Also I have sales experience up to the position of retail management in this industry. We have decided to emigrate to Australia with Adelaide being our preferred choice and all was going well with our application. However, out of the blue the Australian government took away the Pathway D option for skilled workers which has affected our application. We have been advised by our Agents to try for sponsorship and if we can source a company who would be interested to offer work then our Agents can do the paperwork for us and the company on our behalf. I am looking at booking a week over to Aus early in March '08 and would very much prefer to have a face to face meeting and therefore am approaching companies that I have researched both over the net and through family members I have in the Adelaide area. Basically can your company be of any help at all. Be it just basic information with regards to whether their is a need for my skills in this trade area, potential sponsorship offers or would anyone be willing to meet at their convenience for a chat with myself either over the telephone or when I do travel over to Aus between the dates of 1st to 10th March 2008? Any help or information no matter how small would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards and thanks for your time. Mr Martin Roantree My website can be found as follows giving further details of what I am presently achieving and covering in the Uk - www.easyfloor.co.uk
