I have just arrived in Adelaide. Do you guys have checlist of the task which I need to do? Like opening a bank ? Medicare etc?? Please let me know. What should I do first. Thanks!

1. Register your arrival with immigration

2. Open bank account - best for you is NAB

3. Get TFN- tax file number

4. Get private health cover (ambulance)

5. Get a mobile connection (Vodafone offer free calls to India)

6. Rent a home

7. Get admission of kids to schools

8. Start finding a job

 

Last - enjoy your days and don't rush anything

Registar with Medicare, you can do this at the Centerlink.

SA Ambulance cover, you can apply for this at a Post Office. You can also get private health care as additional. Can't help you with this, as we just have Medicare and SA ambulance cover.

 

You will need to gather your 100 points for ID, necessary for rental etc.

 

There are loads of recruitment agencies it the city. Get to the local library for the free wifi.

 

Snifter has put a very helpful thread on schools in the kids section with excellent links.

thanks a lot. This helps. I will start with bank and centerlink tomorrow.

While registering with the immigration. They are asking to fill in the address but I am not sure if i will stay where i am now in Adelaide.so , can i put the address where i am staying as i might change it in future???

Google 100 points for ID SA...it gives you lots of info to chose from.

Enjoy your time before you come, you will still have waves of nerves when you get here, 6 weeks on and I'm on an emotional roller coaster! Ha ha I think adelaide is fantastic place just need to get the job part sorted xx good luck x
