He is a security alarm technician with all the relevant licences to work as an employee. Be grateful for any information. Thank you!!!
  4. Hi there we have now been in Australia for 41/2years wnd just became citizens! Our UK accountant sent me a link about pensions and changes in UK after 31/3/15. Im slightly confused to say the least! I'm a nurse and was also in Uk so know my UK pension was 'final salary' but really dont understand what this means. Also do you deal with insurance policies? We have 2 still which we took out quite a few years ago in UK? thank you.
  5. Wohoo! Great news, congratulations!!!
  6. Congratulations on your first year and for fighting through all your problems. Hope this next year is kinder to you!

  10. Hi there and welcome to a fantastic roller coaster ride! We will have been here 3 years this May and WE LOVE IT! Like you we had never even visited Australia before we emigrated, but we got fantastic advice and tips from this forum and also the Internet in general. Share your highs and lows on here, support is amazing. We 'walked' the streets using google maps and google earth! And had a good idea of where we wanted to be located before we arrived. Wishing you all the best on your journey, hold on and enjoy the ride........it's worth it!
  11. Hi there it's a relatively straight forward process providing you take care to submit all documentation they require from the outset. from memory think it was about 6 weeks to hear back. exciting times! Good luck!

  14. I am a qualified UK and Australian Financial Adviser and am licensed and practice here in Adelaide, we specialise in providing financial advice to UK expats, predominantly providing UK Pension Transfer advice. I will be able to assist you in relation to your UK Pensions and help you understand whether transferring these to Australia will be in your interests, however there is no rush to embark on this process and I always advise clients to wait until they feel settled in Australia and it is their intention to remain before considering a transfer. A transfer is a one way street and once transferred they cannot be transferred back if you decide Australia is not for you. Hi Andrew Just wondered if you were still doing info sessions on this as we are defo here to stay and need to sort this out. Thanks
  15. I dont suppose these are still looking for a home???
  16. Sooooo where did those 2 years go???? Seems like yesterday we landed in Adelaide. Two years on, 2 rentals and 1 temporary accomadation later we are finalising purchasing our own home here in Oz!!!! Soooo excited; I said I wasnt going to renovate EVER again, but am actually looking forward to it! Zack is coming up 16 in October, aaron turned 13 in February and have settled so well. They LOVE it here and now when asked the question about UK or Oz......Aaron (who hid under the table sobbing when we arrived), says 'why would we want to go back?!!'. They both have a great circle of friends and are rarely in!!!! Soccer is still a great part of their life and both belong to clubs and also play via school. Aaron started high school this year and loves it......a real first as he really didnt like school at all in England. Both Mark and I have permanent jobs......I have moved to a hospital nearer to home and have great hours. Mark (who was going to retire!), is working full time and loving it! Of course it hasnt all been rosy, we have had our low points and sometimes England really is on the other side of the world. Nothing is easy, but it IS achievable, the limit is only how far you are prepared to reach for what you want. For us.........BEST THING WE EVER DID!!!!! :jiggy: PS: If any of you have any unwanted packing boxes, we'd be really greatful.....lent ours to a friend who was moving and they 'disposed' of them??????
  17. Hi there We may be interested in a vacation clean when we leave our rental in a few weeks. Will inbox you my mobile number.
  18. Urgently require any unwanted packing boxes PLEASE. We lent ours to a friend who was moving and they disposed of them......needless to say we were speechless!!! Finally after 2 years here we are moving into our OWN house :biglaugh::biglaugh: ......very excited to say the least and would appreciate ANY boxes that are no longer required.... In hopeful anticipation!!!!

  25. Hi there Well we arrived 10 months ago and I had a job to come to at the Women's & Childrens.......a bit of a culture shock at first BUT i love it! Fantastic team, made to feel very welcome. One of our friends works at the Queen Liz and says its a great place to work, she is away this weekend but will speak to her next week, let me know which dept, specific questions and will try and get some answers for you. Have to say that having worked in the NHS since 1988, do not regret the move at all except for missing dear friends & family........my working conditions here are fantastic compared to England!!!! Hope this helps.
