  1. How about one afternoon in the Colonnades tavern, it's pretty easy to get to, or maybe Billy Baxters cafe, it's fairly big and has seating outside.
  2. You can also claim rent allowance if you are not working or on a low wage, and that is means tested also. Last year I was getting rent allowance of $80 a fortnight from centrelink, it's paid with your family tax benefit.

You can get pork pies from the Deli in Coles at the colonnades for a dollar less than Rito's.

    sausage rolls

My kids don't like the skin on the sausages as it's a bit tough, so I cut the skin and put the meat into a bowl add garlic (puree or powder) some breadcrumbs, chives and some surf n turf spices, sometimes will put tomato sauce in or maybe a spoon of curry powder. Cut a sheet of ready pastry in half or quarters and stuff with sausage meat, cook till pastry golden. Also do my own cornish pasties and steak puddings.
  5. We have used www.stayz.com found them cheaper than a cabin or caravan, also most cabins/vans also charge extra for bed linen $10-$15 per person and the tariff is usually for 2 people, so again you are charged extra for your kids etc. The 4 of us stayed in a modern 3 bed townhouse in West Lakes at a cost of $800 for the week and that was thru Stayz.
  6. My doc bulk bills and I don't pay for my blood test, also asked me to have breast screen done which is free. Blood at Noarlunga n screening at Marion.
  7. Have you got any quotes or have an idea what you wanna spend, maybe I could help u out if u could pick up.
  8. Most schools will accept out of zone students if they have any places left, it's only the really really popular schools that don't have any places left that say no. My daughter has a friend who lives in huntfield heights and she goes to seaford and another friend lives in willunga and goes to wirreanda. so don't worry you only need to buy a house in a popular school zone then you are guaranteed a place.
  9. Both my kids go to Wirreanda, my daughter had it rough for a couple of months with one girl inparticular and the school dragged it's arse, but they have since appointed a new principal and he is really good sorted my daughters problem within a week, kept us informed and my daughter is now happy, well as happy as a 14 yr old can be. She is in yr 9 and my son is in yr 11. Had a look at Christies beach high and it didn't "feel right" to us so we opted for Wirreanda.
  10. It's not so much the phonecalls but bloody letters, everyday 2/3 letters, I keep puttin RTS on them and shoving them in the postbox, but quite frankly don't see why I should, we have been in the new place 8 mths now and it's pissin me off. Went to the post office n they said it's illeagal to bin someone elses mail and the postie has to post them to the address that is on the letter aarrgh... With regards to the phonecalls, I just say sorry not interested bye and hang up, as i'm sure some do it just to wind you up.
  11. $90k and livin on beans....wot a crock of ****e, we live on just over half of that and are not struggling. 2 kids in school, mortgage etc etc, we have weekends away most times the kids are on holiday and have regular days out. We did have beans last week but that was choice not necessity and they go quite well with corned beef hash.
  12. you do get paid more per hour when you are a casual, it's supposed to make up for no holiday/sick pay, I was on $21 ph but if I was perm it would drop to $17ph. So I think you have to save for a rainy day.....
  13. Hubby used to drive from Wigan to Manchester every day, he hated it with a passion, almost 2 hrs there n same comin back, Friday was even worse. He would rather be in a jam here than the uk any day.
  14. Couldn't make this afternoon, but see ya next time maybe.
  15. My son plays for Lonsdale lizards who are in the Noarlunga Districts Junior Soccer Association, they train on Weds and Sun and play Sat mornings (kickoff at 9:00 and 11:00) the fee is $100 for the season, it's very relaxed and enjoyable. gardener

Anyone know a decent gardener, just to mow the lawn and keep things tidy on a weekly/fortnightly basis, not too expensive.
  21. We found it harder moving interstate than when we first emigrated, as we had a full house of furniture etc we found it difficult to rent a short term rental so hubby had a week in Adelaide to secure a long term rental and we had to move almost 3 weeks sooner than we had planned, stress levels were thru the roof but it was all worth it. 12 moths later we have moved out of our rental and bought our 2nd house, we like it here, it offers more for the kids as well as me and the hubby, and because we lived in NSW we can compare, and although it was nice where we lived it's nicer where we are now.

    gas company

My son phoned his gas company to give a final reading on the 1st August as he was moving interstate (from NSW to SA) and his forwarding address, they sent the bill to the wrong address and he has only just recieved it this week, no probs. The problem he has is the gas company never disconnected and they want him to pay the present tennants bill. He has phoned them to sort it out, but they are saying he never made the initial call so he has to pay, does anyone know if this is right!?! I am sure the tennant who is living there now should pay as they are the ones using the gas. Any help would be appreciated Lol xx

Ha ha sent you a pm and then noticed my little bruv has posted all the details lol...we love Adelaide, some don't understand there are quieter places or more boring places than South Australia, to us it's more lively than Wagga and the kids love the beach, although they did go to Wagga beach often ha ha.
