  1. Hi I have set up my account with moneycorp online. Made my first bank transfer on Wednesday afternoon. I recieved the confirmation email today to say the transaction from moneycorp to my Australian account had been processed. How long will it take for the cash to show in my Nab account?
  2. http://www.findschoolzones.com.au This is a brilliant site. Probably been mentioned on here before but if your looking for houses in a school zone, this is the app :-)
  3. That's decision made then, we've got Bert (Reynolds) at the mo, but I'm gonna have to buy Bruce now
  4. You are so brave to write it all on here. I've been there too, I had a lot of awful thing happen in a short space of time and the result was anxiety! Its horrible, I couldn't sleep, eat, kept feeling sick and lost a lot of weight. I felt scared the whole time. My husbands dream was moving to Australia so when he got a job and it all became real, I had to think about how I was going to handle it. I hate flying too! I went to see a councillor, got tablets off the doctor and it all made me worse! So I stopped taking the tablets,( I'm not advising that is the best option, for everyone) but they made me alert and unable to sleep, I stopped seeing the councillor, I visited him one day in my worst state of anxiety and he didn't have the answers. Instead I got some sleeping tablets from the pharmacy ( non prescription) had a couple of good nights sleep. That made me feel so much better, then I got my appetite back. I decided to look to the future instead of sitting in the past, my husband and family mean the world to me, so I focus on them. We fly over in 3 weeks, sure I'm nervous but my head is so full of arrangements for the move, that I don't have time to focus on the things that make me anxious. As for the flying, I'm just going to think about finding our dream home while I'm on the plane and our new life in the lucky country. Good luck to you and your family, just go for it :-) don't let anxiety win.
  5. I thought I'd ask it anyway..... Will my Tom Tom Sat Nav work in Australia? Or will I need to pay for new maps? Sorry if I sound a bit daft

    Scared........

We're in the final 3 weeks now :-) fly out on 30th June. Had my moments of feeling scared too. At one point if anyone mentioned Australia I'd get cold sweats and start worrying! Now I can't wait!! I finished work last Friday and there's so much to do, so much to plan. Good luck, maybe see you in the lucky country
  7. Thanks all for replies and info, especially for the advise regarding the 457, we will definitely take it :-)
  8. Thanks for replies, all are helpful :-) NicF - totally agree with everything you have said. We wouldn't sign up without viewing in person. We do look on realestate and if the property is available after our arrival date we ask if we can arrange to view, trying to book viewings from the 4th July onwards but the agents do not respond? Kooky- Well done :-) Your agent seems to be reasonable. I've emailed 3-4 on realestate but they don't respond. I explained that we're on a 457 (sponsored working visa) with excellent reference etc and nothing? Only want to arrange viewings
  9. We're looking for a long term rental, not just July?
  10. Hi We are looking to rent a lovely sunny house 3+ bed, with a pool. Prefer Hendy beach area as hubby work is in North Adelaide but can be flexible. We arrive in Adelaide on 1st July on a 457 and have temp accommodation until 21st July. Looked on all the websites but agents don't respond as we're not in the country yet ( I'm advised)
  11. Hi Scri, I will Pm my email address if you can send details and pictures. We're arriving in Adelaide on 1st July and want the Henley High School catchment area. thanks
  12. Thanks Toni, Great help
  13. Hi We will be moving to Adelaide in July. We're trying to work out how much rent we can afford. What other BASIC weekly out goings should we take into account? (not inc food, fuel)
  14. I think I'm missing something? I looked at the link and is says NSW,ACT & Western Australia fees apply on a 457 but nothing about SA? it says we may have to pay minor admin fees. whoops sorry that's what you said lol early morning here so didn't read it properly.
  15. Sacked the visa agent. Applied ourselves with a little bit of help from a friend and VISAS GRANTED 22nd April Only submitted them on Easter Sunday. Adelaide here we come.
  16. I was told that the fees wouldn't be payable on a 457 visa? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks
  17. Thats great thanks, that is the informed answer we were hoping for;-)
  18. Hi, Moving to Adelaide from England and so many questions....... When (before or after we arrive) and how should we begin to look for a school? We will be on a 457 visa and were told public school fees are not payable in Adelaide, is that correct? I've been looking on a school website and it confuses me (that's not hard) Can anyone recommend a good public high school for a 16 year old, main subjects are science and math. We will be moving to Adelaide and will be able to move into a catchment area. Glenunga international high school and Marryatville high school reviews look good. Does anyone have any experience or views on these? thanks
  19. Congratulations :wink:I'm not an expert and I'm sure someone more knowledgable will answer but probably best to get the new passport before applying. Especially as it says you must have at least 6 months left. You could always pay extra for a quicker turnaround time when you apply or go for a day out to the passport office. Good luck and congrats again
  20. Thanks all for your replies. We're all sorted we don't need the checks, medicals or test. The visa agent was wrong and the recruitment agent set him straight. Panic over
  21. Hi all The job offer has been approved by the Australian government :-) the recruitment agent has asked their visa agent to contact us so we can give him all our information to lodge the application. After speaking to this guy I have absolutely no confidence in him. None of the following is an issue that will prevent us from going but it is additional cost and time that may not be necessary. Can you tell me if the following is true? 1, We will all need to provide criminal record checks from the UK - none of us have ever had any criminal convictions. 2, We will all need to have medicals - none of us have any known medical issues 3, My husband will need to take a skills test - We are moving to Adelaide, I thought that was only needed in NSW? Can anyone let me know their experiences or knowledge on the above ? Thanks in advance
  22. Hi Please could someone advise ... We are applying for 457 sponsored visa. Our 25 year old daughter wants to come over 6 months after we arrive in Aus. She is single with no dependents. Also our son is currently in Australia on a 2 year working holiday visa, that ends in August. Can we add them to the 457 application? or will they need to apply for another type of visa? If so which ones?
  23. Thanks, that's exactly what were looking for
  24. Hi Can anyone give us an idea of cost to ship over.....tools and 3 large tool boxes, a couple of tv's, clothes, boxes of photos and a bike. Should only take up 1/4 of a container maximum. Every company we have asked wants exact weight and measurements. How do we weigh large tool boxes approx 3ft x 2ft x2 ft each? Not moving for a few months but trying to budget. Thanks
