Booked our Meds !! wooohooooo. No one knows were planning to go as I feel concerned for my son at his school. I dont want any friendships affected or any of the parents keeping there distance . Does anyone else feel this way

Exciting, we have our meds next week.

I wouldn't worry, your boy is only little and if your telling people that you get along with they will be happy for you, otherwise they don't really need to know.

I told work on Thursday (Iv only been there a month, om covering maternity leave) I was so nervous, but when i chatted with my boss she couldn't of been happier for me and felt it was a really exciting experience.

Sometimes people just suprise you.

Good luck

Great news... that must be a relief for you to know she isnt ruling a visit out...

Sx

Hiya,

She meant about moving out one day. She wants to visit but has a problem with her hips which means she gets a lot of pain if she sits in a car/coach/plane for more than a couple of hours (has had them both replaced in the past and the op wasn't done very well) but she is on the list to have one of them replaced again which hopefully will make it easier for her to travel.

Leeanne,

We are in the same position. We have a girl now in year 3 and year 10 with the little boy still at home, but we have also made the decision to keep it quiet... Like you said, maybe it is a mom-thing, but we tend to want to protect our kids from any treatment different to the norm. I don't want them to treat the youngest different as the school only has about 400 kids and have the attitude:oh well, you are leaving at the end of the year and so forth. The eldest is in a much bigger school with 1050 children, but still we made the decision to keep quiet.

I have promised that they could tell whoever once the exams is done at the end of November and all work have been dealt with for the year.

I agree people are very strange and although I don't care what people think of me, I do not want my children to be affected one bit!

Good luck

Karen

our kids have always been open and up front about the fact they were going to emigrate. my hubby and i have always had the plan to go to australia and the kids have grown up with that idea. eldest is 8 and from what i've seen there haven't been any problems at school from it and my daughter recently moved to a new school and has made friends there very well. most of them seem to be jealous that she's going to be living in oz - although a couple have called her mad based on the spiders bit! as to the other mums, i have a few friends from my daughters old school and none of them were ever funny about the fact we were planning on emigrating. it could just be us that have been lucky i suppose but we have had a lot of support from the people we have told. it's only proper friends we have told though - apart from obviously the kids telling all their friends!

Hi Cara

Just wanted to say that we too were asked for tax docs for this year as hubby is self employed and last years were no good. We had to get our accountant to do them quickly. I think he turned them around in about 4 days, so be prepared to have to do that!

Everyones medicals have been finalised now except mine! Typical. They have been referred so will now wait to see what happens.

I see you are from West Sussex. We are too. We live in Haywards Heath.

Hope it gets sorted for you.

Suzanne

Thanks for the tip, I called the accountant today & he's going on holiday next week for 2 1/2 weeks so he's going to try to get the tax returns done by Friday just incase. He's got to do the end of year accounts first though. If I haven't heard from the CO Friday and he's done them then I might just send them anyway then we know wee've done all we can.

We are looking at going in April hopefully, we need to sell our house first tho.

Port Noarlunga looks nice or somewhere in that area I think, we want to be near the beach and also commutable into the city for jobs for my hubby.

I have checked 3 times tonight though haha! I really hope we hear soon.

We are considering going on holiday, as this process has been soo stressful - were hoping to go to cancun, but the prices were over budget!! I would be willing to go ahead, but Ross is the sensible one..so unless we get a holiday within budget, we aint going away!

I was soo annoyed in work it was a holiday today in oz - how bad is that!

Hi Sarah,

We have been investigating that area. Its important for us to be close to a good primary school. My partner travels in his job so its not a problem where we are from his work. We have also looked at Happy Valley and Woodcroft. Just generally investigating really.

We are aiming to make the Jump May 2012.!! :)

Hi Karen,

This is exactly how we feel. I have built up a good circle of friends from my sons school. However I havent known them long. My son is coming to the end of his 1st year at school. I want things and talk to be "normal" and everyday things. I know that once they know our plans, it will be constant talking and asking questions. I also have a feeling that all the socialising my son does with their children could come to a stop as they would be protecting there children from getting "to close". I will let them know only a few months before we fly.

Also I spoke to my mum today to say it is def on the card to go next year and she got quite upset, however she did say she knows why we are going as a family. She totally understands.

I really hope you hear something soon. You've been waiting far too long.

We're off on a cheap family holiday to the South of France in 2 weeks. It will be a well deserved break after all of this stress!

Thanks Natalie, I hope we hear this week. I am starting to chill out alot more now, I have told myself I am in for a long wait - so if I do hear earlier it will be a bonus. I have a real horrible feeling about the process if I am honest!

Aww thats great, it will be good just to get away and relax, you certainly deserve it!

What did your tracker look like when the visa got approved, does it change?

Yes we're looking forward to the break. Hopefully you'll get one too.

Our tracker changed to 'applicant approved' under each of our names. The rest of the list disappeared.

Hope your tracker changes to this soon
