Thanks, I'm really happy with how the thread has worked out! Hopefully will make it easy for people to arrange meet ups and will be great for everyone to excited together when they've got their visa's.

 

As we're not moving out til next April (unless we win the lottery lol) I'm expecting a welcome to Adelaide party! lol

Hi everyone,

 

Can I just ask what you are all planning to do about travel insurance for your trip over to Oz? I know that we will need to register with Medicare once we arrive and should get the necessary document/ref no. within 3 weeks or so but I am just pondering the best place to get travel insurance to cover us before this.

 

Normally you would purchase travel insurance as a fairly standard scenario but not sure whether to go for a specific Aussie package or just insurance that obviously covers Oz. We are stopping in Perth on the way so will probably need at least 5/6 weeks cover before we can be sure we are at least covered by the basics of Medicare.

 

Just wanted to post my thoughts and get your opinions!

Thanks Sarah, I think my meds are going to be referred as I have a blood clotting disorder. I don't need any ongoing treatment & I have a letter from my doctor saying so but I still rekon they'll want to check it out. Oh well, we'll see.
