  1. Hi yeah I agree with all of the above if you can bring your flights forward try to. It can happen quickly but it can also take weeks to know where your going to be land jobs and secure a long term rental. It might also be worth looking for a R-12 school then they can all go to the same school and don't have to worry about moving to another school again. It all depends on where you plan to live. http://www.decd.sa.gov.au/locs/ http://www.privateschoolsdirectory.com.au/adelaide-schools.php If your interested you can also look at best performing schools - we have our kids in a local private catholic school as the primary here was not for us. http://www.myschool.edu.au/ You could also check out this thread.. http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/forum/renting-real-estate/8873-area-you.html Good luck
  2. Most are just lumping and getting the bus like my hubby he gets a short bus to the Noarlunga interchange and then gets a direct bus but it is a nighmare as you would probably have to get a longer bus before Noarlunga. He also has a motorbike which he is using a lot more. Some have thought about the tram from Glenelg but not sure what the cost is. Check out this facebook group too, might be useful... https://www.facebook.com/groups/NoarlungaLineCommuters2013/?ref=ts&fref=ts
  3. Also had a great night and so did the kids was well worth the trip
  4. Thanks Diane - I only wanted to ask as we live down South and need to be back home not too late. Will try and grab some marshmallows on route think it was no BYO alcohol :-)
  5. Anyone know what time the fireworks are typically on?
  6. St John's primary school have started Little John's on a Wednesday morning which is great little community group. I think many kindies had to stop playgroups which is a shame. Think Seaford Neighborhood centre runs one... but you will have to check their flyer. Also check out story time at Noarlunga Library
  7. Personally it was not for us, the principal was not that great to me so we ended up sending my son to a local private Catholic school and it's not that expensive and we are not religious at all!. You ahve to look round a school to know what your getting and although the my school website is a good indicator it's not everything but we did take that into consideration as PNPS is one of the worst performing in the area.
  8. They are beautiful and will be visible right through until September. You can go on a whale cruise at Victor I believe :-)
  9. Building up to ours at the end of the year... just took the quick 1 chapter test.. I need to revise!
  10. I love the parklands at least a new sport cyclo cross is using some of them. Think it would be nice if they were used more often easier to use for public event's without the red tape that probably prevents a lot of ideas happening. People should just get out there and use them :-)
  11. I am in real need of a curry! oh hum...
  12. Competition for GOOD rentals can be tough and can take weeks. If it all possible try and get an extra week. What ages are your kids? If they are nearly high school I would defiantly be looking at private in the south. To get the work life balance right and the kids want the beaches then anywhere along the coast is nice
  13. I love living down here and if your shift work it probably won't matter to you. It all depends on what is important to you in terms of schools, and other stuff you like to do. If your renting in Christies then I would assume you decided that's a good base to start form and the transport links will get better - short term pain long term gain. My son goes to a great little private school at Christies beach and both Christies Beach and Port Noarlunga have great surf clubs. There is lots to do around here but if you are worries about the communte look at the suburbs down the hill around Brighton and Marion. Or Go East into the hills. There is a lot of choice but you won't really know until you get here. Given our time again I would probably not live where we do but now we are here not moving I love it :-)
  14. This might be helpful to some.. bus replacement services are a nightmare. Some have been driving to Glenelg and either getting the tram or cycling from there! https://www.facebook.com/groups/NoarlungaLineCommuters2013/?fref=ts

  19. Anyone wanting to try Genesis Gym Noarlunga? I am looking for someone to take over my remaining contract $33 a fortnight. I just don't need it anymore, great gym lots of classes and a creche :-) Please Pm me
  20. You can survive a bite from them if you KNOW it was that that bit you. It shuts down the part of your brain than allows you to breath. If you get to hospital and put on lie support with in 20mins I think you can breath again after 24-48hrs or something like that. They particularly like living on the reef at Port Noarlunga - family friendly beach so be aware. It would be rare to see one but if you know what to avoid you will be ok. Your more like to see blue bottle jelly fish. Glad all is well and thanks for the photo they can be so small and difficult to see.
  21. On Road Cycling skills for adults riders May 11 & 18th, 10am-1pm. Where: Brighton OVAL, Brighton Rd Bring: a bike and helmet Cost: FREE to adults. Bookings essential : info@rideabikeright.com.au I'm not working this one but thought I would share
  22. I am pretty sure there is somewhere in Port Elliot but can't remember the name. Really good place to base yourselves and very beautiful, hope you find somewhere and get it booked quickly :-)
  23. Sound advice wait until you get here get yourself sorted and go look round. Private schools are generally easier to afford here and you can get a school card (not sure what discounts you get) which helps towards private school costs.
