    Masters no more!

Sad about Masters but great about Costco. I can't find a link to that news anywhere but it makes sense as I knew they wanted a store down here at some point. NWM

    A few questions!

Re Transferring money - I use Ozforex as their rates consistently beat Moneycorps (and it's also free) but I am tempted to try a peer to peer company too which matches people who are sending money in the opposite direction. This one is supported by Richard Branson https://transferwise.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=EN_AUS_Search_Brand&matchtype=e&network=g&device=c&devicemodel=&creative=77082794457&keyword=transferwise&placement=&adposition=1t1 I would be keen to hear from anyone who has used this kind of service. Goodbye

If it's not too personal - I would be interested to know the main reasons for your decision. Broadly speaking was it down to money, family, better opportunities, difficulty settling, family, home sickness or something else?? NWM

    Bali in August (first time)

I'm going back in June to Nusa Dua - It really is idyllic for us. I only went last year looking for a beach holiday where I could trust the weather. I wasn't looking for a cultural experience - just somewhere to unwind with a book in one hand and a cocktail in the other. It was far cheaper than staying in Aus, especially for the add-ons (food, drink, spa, massage etc). In Nusa dua there are loads of really good hotels with cuisine and beaches to match. We felt very secure and apart from one trip to Kuta we didn't feel the need to leave the area. May not be to everyone's taste, I get that, but for a place just to unwind I couldn't fault it (hence booked again) NWM

    Cricket World Cup

I was surprised the stadium wasn't full yesterday and I think part of the reason has been the general lack of games being shown on free-to-air TV - there just hasn't been the 'buzz' that I was expecting. The game may have been good on the telly but the atmosphere at the stadium for most of the match was pretty flat for a quarter final, knock-out match. I love big games (which is why I went) but I did come away slightly disappointed with the 'experience' (not the result) NWM

    Liverpool fc playing in adelaide

They had some that had been reserved for officials and clubs etc - some of these that weren't taken up were then released to the public, I don't expect that to be the same for a friendly match but I guess it could happen NWM

    Liverpool fc playing in adelaide

They sold out immediately - to guarantee mine I joined Adelaide United as an Associate member for $25 the week before so I was eligible for the pre-sale. But they are now like gold-dust - my guess is some will be re-sold nearer the time on gumtree (or here). The corporate hospitality tickets are still around but that will set you back over $500. Good luck though!! NWM

Buy car in Melbourne and drive over to Adelaide?

I'll be surprised if you need a RWC in Adelaide see:https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/transport-travel-and-motoring/motoring/vehicles-and-registration/vehicle-inspections/roadworthy-inspections NWM

    Return Resident Visa - RRV

The other thing to say is that as the 189 visa is a permanent visa then to avoid having to get a RRV, just apply for citizenship and get a passport instead (which you can do after four years of residency). The passport is cheaper than the RRV and means that forever you can come and go as you please. I understand there are reasons why some cannot do this, due to validating the visa but not moving out straight away or being out of the country for more than a year during the four years preceding a citizenship application, but in most cases this would appear to be the better option. Property boom fuelled

The poster has a certain 'style' that many may not like but the long standing members you talk of have given as good as they have got. The thread you mention has been moderated by admin, infractions issued and now closed - I am not going to edit it any further. For future reference, if you have a problem with a poster then please put them on ignore, if you have a problem with a post then report the post and finally if you have a problem with the way the site is moderated then please contact admin rather than posting on the forum. OK - I've removed personal digs and comments. Please stick to debating the topic and not the poster. NWM

    Options available for transferring money

5% in fees is a killer IMHO NWM

    Options available for transferring money

Yeah - I did the same as most of my money still comes from the UK, I tried them all when I started, playing them all off of each other - Ozforex beat everyone by a mile at the time (same no fees etc) however that was a few years ago now, i'd be interested to compare again. NWM
