  1. It's Sea n Vines this long weekend Sunday and Monday in McLaren Vale. http://www.mclarenvale.info/banksaseaandvines If you haven't booked any tickets and fancy going, the normal wineries are still open for business and have their own events happening. Ekhidna Winery on Kangarilla Road, McLaren Vale has a band on. There is a new boutique winery called Mandelli's and they are putting on a band too.
  2. We are having trouble filling a Cost Control position and I know another project engineering consultancy firm also with a Cost Control vacancy and they are having to recruit from overseas because no one applied for the job! When I questioned it thinking my boss must mean that the applications weren't good enough, my boss repeated that no applications were received. Very weird. It's only a gloried Accounts job managing budgets and spreadsheets!
  3. What about apps for Android? Not everyone can afford the iphone.
  4. Yes Jessica is right, it is very tough out there at the moment. It took me 2 months to find a job and as the saying goes jobs are like buses, none come along for ages and then you get offered 4 in the same week!! I got 2 phone calls today but I had to turn the interviews down because I have one now. Where I'm working in the City, we need a Cost Control person so if anyone has project experience in cost control, please send me a PM.
  5. We ordered our solar back in December last year and have only just had installation. I think lots of other people were in the same boat as everyone seems to be installing them in the past few weeks (including us). The delay is due to the Japan earthquake. Well thats what the Solar Shop told us.
  6. You should only have paid a deposit not in full yet. I wouldn't believe too much of what Today Tonight says. Contact True Solar to put your mind at rest.
  7. There's still the search button at the top.

    Favourite Beers

I would stock the local beers either from Myponga Brewery, McLaren Vale Ale or Goodiesons. Personally I like Coopers Pale.
  9. Do not activate global roaming on your phone! You will be charged for both incoming and outgoing calls. I was going to activate mine but Virgin advised me not to. Instead, when in Hong Kong I bought a sim card for there costing me 97 HKD to let people know that I wasn't on my intended flight via text messaging. When I got to the UK I got a 10 pound sim card and it lasted me 2 weeks! You can top them up easily at Sainsburys.
  10. The W word is not considered offensive here. It's offensive to call someone a mongrel!
  11. There are so many to choose from. For McLaren Vale wineries currently my order of preference is: Yangarra Shiraz and Mourvedre Pirramimma Stocks Hill Shiraz Samuel's Gorge Grenache and Shiraz Fox Creek Shiraz Ekhidna Linchpin Shiraz
  12. Saturday morning always starts with a visit to Willunga Market to get the weekly groceries. We don't have kids which is a bonus as we love to visit the wineries as we live so close, you've just got to go to Ekhidna Winery on Main Road, McLaren Vale as they do awesome food and are also open as a wine bar on Thurs, Fri and Sat nights. We love that place and love their chocolate cocktails and jugs of beer and did I mention that its a wine bar!?! We like going shopping in the local shopping mall, meeting up with friends and having a coffee in Gloria Jeans or Cibo. Going to Marion Cinema and seeing a film in Gold Class with a glass of wine in hand! Lots of socialising. Must go, I've got housework to do!! LOL
  13. LOL I love these websites.
  14. I have found that any Aussie Rock song will get people up and dancing, especially The Angels and Cold Chisel (Jimmy Barnes).

    Huge Water Bill!!!

We are self sufficient with a 9000 litre and a 12000 litre water tank. All powered by solar. Our water bills are $50 a quarter and that includes the River Murray Levy.
  16. Nothing, they are just down by your side
  17. Yes I've seen the dance by both men and women. We do the Macarena or that Saturday Night song by Whigfield and they do Nut Bush. I use to love the Jingo at parties but no one knows it in Australia. I have the original on vinyl!!

Log onto the Zumba website and click on Find a Class. It will show you the classes in your area. http://www.zumba.com/parties/search/search:1/address:Hallet+Cove%2C+Australia/distance:25/unit:m
  19. That Grote Street one is cheap! I work on Pirie Street near Pulteney Street so i've been parking at the Flinders St/Pirie Street car park for $14.00 a day. The nearer car parks are $14.50 per day. These are early bird prices!! I think the Rundle Street car park is $11.00 per day.

    Ladies Spa Day

There are two that are comparable to the ones in the UK. Endota Day Spa located at the Novotel, Barossa Valley - http://www.endota.com.au/default.cfm?id=251 Euthenticity in Port Elliot - http://www.authenticity.com.au/contact_us.html I really would like to go to the Port Elliot one but its expensive.
  21. City from McLaren Flat - leaving at 6.45am 50 mins travelling by car
  22. I would hold off moving until next year. The Noarlunga Train Line is currently out of action up to Oaklands for 6 months and then Oaklands to City will be closed for 6 months, all for upgrading of the trainline. It's been a nightmare for commuters. I've just got a new job which is in the City, I have decided to drive in, pay $14 a day and its an hours drive each way and that is leaving home at 6.45am and leaving work at 4.00pm. Any later, then you are stuck in traffic and bumper to bumper on the expressway. It will be even worse when the expressway is being duplicated next year. But once it's all been done, it will be great travelling in to the City!
  23. When I first arrived, I lived with hubby in Underdale but as soon as I got my residency sorted out we moved asap as I hated it there. Someone I knew from work was building in Seaford so I suggested we take a Sunday drive and check it out. As soon as we got to Seaford and went to the beach, we fell in love with the area. We liked Hallett Cove too but we couldn't afford a house there. Seaford was more affordable as we were both on low salaries at the time and we got a lovely house for less money. After 5 years being in Seaford and seeing it grow and the announcement of the new railway extension, we decided that it was time to move on. As we love the wineries and the McLaren Vale region, we decided to look for houses in McLaren Vale/Flat and Willunga with a fair amount of land. We found our perfect house in McLaren Flat. It has a vilage feel about it and we love it here!
  24. Thanks for posting that link above. Very handy to know. At we know we don't have to pay tax on it.
