  1. Thanks snifter and doubter, I have been in touch with an employment agent who has offered to help while I am still in the UK but we have decided we are moving in June regardless of whether I have a job offer or not. Taking the leap of faith....
  2. As the Aussies would say "Good Onya" for leaving. If anyone has anything constructive to say I would still like to hear from you. I haven't got the option to move to any other city because my wife's family lives in Adelaide and that is the purpose for our move otherwise I would stay in London.
  3. Hi All, I am planning on moving to Adelaide on a Spouse Visa from London with my wife who is from Adelaide in May/June and have made a tentative attempt to find a job as an insurance broker. I haven't had much of a response although I have over 25 years experience in the industry. I would love to secure employment before I arrive but some of the feedback I have had is that I probably won't be taken seriously until I arrive. So I might have to take a risk and migrate without a job offer. Does anyone on this forum work in Insurance or can anyone recommend a reliable employment agent particularly those who specialise in insurance or financial services who might be able to help me Thanks in advance Paul
  4. A bit warm - massive understatement. You are so English
  5. He seemed slightly coy and said "it takes a bit of getting used, but it's ok"
  6. I met Eddie years ago and my mum said to him "Do you like being famous?" He is a lovely down to earth guy
  7. I'm booked on one of those flights but haven't heard anything from Malaysian Airlines yet
  8. Hi, I've flown Emirates twice from Gatwick in the last 2 years. No problems at all and no complaints from me, better than Malaysian who I went with before. Also if you can time the flights to land in Adelaide in the evening local time it helps to alleviate the jet lag.
  9. That is definately where i want to be living
  10. I am applying for the same visa and I have been told it takes 9 to 10 months. I applied in July and I am expecting it to be granted in April. So if you apply now Suzy you might just get the visa by the end of this year
  11. There was talk in the press of Adelaide United playing Liverpool in an exhibition match in July this year. I am planning on leaving behind my football loyalties in England and following Adelaide United when I move over. I went to see a game in February when I was visiting and loved it. Great atmosphere and a good standard of football.
  12. Thanks for sharing, lovely photos
  13. I'm still in England but have been following Adelaide United online ever since I went to a game in February when I was in Adelaide. Going to watch United regularly is one of the things I am looking forward to when I get to live there. Would love to meet up with other PIA people to go to a game.
  14. Thanks jtct, gorgeous pictures. By the way I currently live in Wallington, just a short drive from Epsom Downs.
  15. It is really encouraging to see these photos as it gives a reminder of some of the reason for moving to Oz. I am also aiming to move to Port Noarlunga or nearby when I move over which would be ideal as my wife's family live in Morphett Vale (she is an Aussie)
  16. Has anyone tried changing their IP address so that they can use BBC i player, 4 OD, 5 on demand etc in Adelaide by using a VPN website? I am thinking about doing that when I move over from the UK but would be interested in knowing if it really works well there.
  17. Hi Everyone, My name is Paul and my wife's name is Sarah. Today I took in all of my forms, documents and relationship evidence to our migration agent and so my Spouse visa application is being sent in the next few days ! The countdown begins.... I am 42 my wife is 33, my wife is from Adelaide and we got married in Noarlunga in March 2012. I believe it takes around 9 months plus for the visa application to be processed and then we can start making plans...Sarah's family live in Morphett Vale so ideally we would like to live nearby, maybe in Port Noarlunga lol Currently I am an insurance broker and Sarah works in the medical records department in a hospital. It would be great to get to know some Poms in Adelaide and those of you in the UK planning on making the move as well... Paul and Sarah
