Hi everyone,

We will be moving to Adelaide mid March - April next year and would love to be part of your network group.

It is a very exciting but daunting time and its great to have the support of others in the same

position.

It would also be good to get the children in contact with others too as they are keen to make friends.

We are potentially looking at the Seaview Downs area for properties, the schools also look really nice around there.

Does anyone else know much about this area or have any advice on the best areas for families / schools etc?

Look forward to chatting with you all,

Visa granted 07/10/2014

Flights booked for 14/03/2015

Carly - Quality Assurance / Childcare trainer & Assessor

Chris - Firefighter

Abbie - 13 yrs old

Kian - 10 yrs old

Jaimie - 8 yrs old

Hi, we seem to have our visa granted around the same time and we also fly to Oz on the same day!!! Although we are off to Darwin to see my brother for a week before we arrive in Adelaide. My husband is a joiner/carpenter and I work in retail, we have an 11yr old son And a 5year old daughter. We have a four week rental booked for 4 weeks so we can take a look at all areas near by.....good luck xx

Hello everyone, Nice to see many of'em moving to Adelaide during early 2015. We (I, Wife & 2 yr old) would be migrating here by feb/mar 2015 too. It would be good to catch up then. Our research is in progress and Glenelg seems to suit us. Any information/links on Homes, IT/ICT Jobs in/around CBD and primary schools would be highly appreciated.

Hi Kartik,

There are many links for home - download apps for domain and real estate also check rent form here, for buying stuff log on to gumtree and visit woolworths site. NOW. Jobs you have to have 2 referrals for that logon to LinkedIn and start talking to people to refer you. What in IT you do as I am in Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery.

We are arriving end of March beg of April 2015, I am just waiting on the pet transport people telling me when the dog is safe to travel. We have been in this process for a LONG time! It took nearly 3 years for our house to sell and we were stuck unable to do anything. We are in a rental property here with most of our stuff in storage. We are very excited and I think it's a great idea that you have set up this thread. HELLOOOOOO we are the McKnight family from Glasgow. My hubby is a project manager (construction). I work in community mental health and homeless services (I teach Zumba in the evenings too). We have 2 boys aged 18 and 16, and a year old border collie named Theo.

Hi everyone, we'll also jump on this thread as we are in the same situation. We hope to arrive next march/April, visa was granted last July. We have accepted am offer on our house but won't be completing until the new year and don't have an exchange date yet. We might be doing things slightly different, in that, my OH rick may go out early to set things up- house, any furnishings we may need, car and job. He is a mechanic so hoping he will be able to get work fairly quickly. The he is either coming back to help with the flight as we have a 1 and 2 year old- very energetic boys! Or if work date is ASAP, I may have to do the actual goodbye part and flight alone, eeekkk! As we don't need to be near the city, we are looking at suburbs in the south as there's no point paying a premium to live near a city where neither of us need to work. Aldinga, moana, port n etc. I am a primary teacher but probably won't work until kids are at school or if we work out that childcare is worth it money wise as at the moment it definitely isn't worth me working as we would be out of pocket. So am just doing 1 day a week as my mum has the boys then. Hoping that our move will be a fresh start as neither side of our families are particularly close or easy to deal with :-( except my mum but she was actually the one who kept going on about trying oz so is happy about our decision. Think we are going to be living a fairly simple life on just one wage unless I can find tutoring or some sort of evening work but we don't lead expensive lives here and as I will go back to work eventually, I know it's not forever as kids get more expensive as they get older!

Hopefully we we will all meet at some point once we arrive :-)

hi, I'm not planning on working until, the kids are well and truly settled either, although like yourself if we work out that childcare can be sorted and it's worth working then I will. We are also looking at Southern suburbs for probably the same reasons as you. We arrive on the 21st March x

We will not be able to leave until the easter hols either way as I have missed the window to give notice at work but as Easter is early next year I think it should be end of March/ very beginning of April. Like I said to you earlier, won't be leaving it any later as I will be in my old bedroom at my mums with 2 children and maybe rick as well so for everyone's sanity we'll be leaving ASAP! X

Hi guys

My name’s Tim and I am moving out to Adelaide next feb/march time. Moving out on my own so very keen to meet up with folks so thought I’d hijack this thread! I’m a 40 year old GP hoping to live near the beach and will be working up in Elizabeth/Golden Grove. However having read some of the very useful tips on here the foot of the hills also sounds great. Planning to go into short term rental until I find my feet and get to grips with the area. Good luck to you all with the process and hope to catch up.

Hi Lorraine I'm Lorraine and also worked in homeless services for 10 years and now in mental health too ! Sound like you have had a real endurance test to get to adelaide. Our dog is coming too!

Has anyone checked the west beach area for accommodation and schools as the rentals are low and they have some real good properties. Any feedback that anyone can share?

You are probably better starting a new thread and asking these sorts of questions in whichever area of the forum applies. People may not read all the posts in this thread and if you want feedback from people already here, a new thread is a better way to go.
