  11. Hiya Just wanted to share my experience from a few years ago. Adelaide airport is lovely small well designed and easy to access. The car hire places are just outside the terminal. We booked a hire car prior to arrival which was ready for us. We planned a route via Multimap and printed it off. You will need a car anyway until you buy one. So to avoid stress with all that luggague and children too I would hire a suitable car and get a deal for a week. Until you sleep off and get your feet. next on the shopping list for us was a Sat Nav, I would recommend getting one on your first shopping trip, again its solves all your "where am I " issues !! The one we got speaks the road names too, so this helped us to learn the area quicker. perhaps you could be really organised and buy one before you get here perhaps off ebay ? with australian maps on and you will be ready to go when you collect you hire car. Once you leave the airport if you take the coastal road, whilst there are many roundabouts this is the best route and you just keep going, it takes you all the way to Aldinga and gives you many pleasant views of the ocean along the way. It avoids the city. Good Luck and best wishes
  12. Bumping this up...does anyone have any actual experience of transferring pensions ? was it good ? Or are you left feeling that you dont understand or paid a lot to get this sorted out ?

  15. Hi as said above, bring everything as all the houses have big wardrobes and yes I left my lovely warm boots in UK 3 years ago and 2 woolwinters coats and wish I had not. I mainly miss the coats it I go out in the evenings and want to wear light dressy clothes like a nice dress etc... Otherwise, its layers layers layers, as it can 5 degrees when you get up the morning and as nice as 20 degrees at lunchtime if its sunny... I would also take advantage of the UK summer sales....as here you DO wear your summer clothes... I am a summer person and love summer dresses etc and in UK only ever got to wear them on holidays. I am always on the look out for nice quality and fashionable ladies summer clothes to wear when its very hot, as I dont want to dress like a skinny 20 year old, being middle-aged but want to look nice and cool.... Its hard here to get nice things that arnt frumpy in 16/18... Anyway, back to winter...personally wouldnt bother with wooly hats scarves and gloves....but long trousers and long sleeved tops with layered waistcoats, cardigans etc and light weight scarves are very useful, as are nice warm PJ's oh ans slippers are a must on the hard cold floors... good Luck
  16. I find all this very enlightening !! I too have 1 small private pension which contained some serps and a stakeholder from an emplyer, all worth about 30,000 pounds only. Left UK 3 years ago. I am 48 Not feeling urgent about moving them due to exchange rate and also dragging feet abot paying a couple thousand dollars to a financial adviser to do the job. Whilst I understand that for advice we have to pay and we may recoup that money. I still have the desire to do it my self ?? !! I had heeard only recently about the new Zealand option. So Im guesing that I can fill in a form to get my paultry penions brougt from UK to NZ in sterling ? That I can exchange that sterling at any time into Aus dollars ? That I can also access those funds say in 5 years time ? to perhaps put into an investment property ? I think that if we pool all our knowledge and experience that we acn all save money !
  17. Hi, How do we book this ? what time is it etc ??? is there a web site ?? Thanks Lynne
