  1. Hi. we used Atlantis A Leeds Company so not too faraway. I found them to be sound didnt have a problem at all infact I felt a waste of space as they packed the house no hassles. Only downside it took 11 weeks instead of 8 which we where told .Saying that it took 2 week for the container to be released at Adelaide, I would keep this in mind if moving into a short term rental until your furniture turns up.
  2. Ive just been down there this morning its a beautiful spot. infact I think the beaches all the way down to Aldinga are fantastic, my favourite being Port Willunga at the Star of Greece.
  3. I don't think it would take 2 hours maybe a good hour. I don't know how old your children are but my daughter used to go and come home on the bus. Also have you looked at Moana school it looks very nice and has very large ground for a primary school. best of luck
  4. We used emigrating solutions our agent was called Paul. I was very impressed as we had countless questions and they always came back to our calls every time. I would recommend using them .I know they give a free complimentary advice on your 1st initial phone call ,so if you could get all your major questions ready to ask. It may save time and money.

    hi

we are going to scotts Creek, we are having a camp fire and doing loads of other fun activities. We have just done a sports day but with 16 other schools! I came 2 and 3. it's really fun. i love the uniform you have to wear navy blue and gold- yellow and trainers. we get home work but not much, and we dont do much work at school either xxxxx Love Lauren x
  6. Oh sorry its at Noarlunga centre interchange.
  7. everything because believe me it expensive the first few months until you settle. 9 weeks without your gear you end up buying all sorts of bits and bats up you need to get by and they mount up. If you have a full container then fill it you can always throw it when your here or donate it. Until you starting getting paid in Aussie Dollars you will be converting everything back to Pounds and pence, you will be moaning about the cost of beans ,beer, coffee everything. My advice if you have got it bring it.
  8. you can catch the train at Port Noarlunga its cheaper than the car.
  9. Hi. We live in Port Noarlunga Sth a few minutes from Moana. Like yourselves and I think many others we where looking at Port Noarlunga when in the UK. Then ended up with a rental at PNS nice and close to the beach it took a few months to grow on me but now I love it. Moana has a great beach and the deep blue cafe turns out some of the best food I have had. The walk or drive along the esplanade lets you know you did the right thing,I was lucky enough to have some time off and walked along the esplanade to Moana then back on the. beach. If you end up at any of the south coast beach destinations you have cracked it honestly.
  10. I wouldn't rush about trying to do every thing ASAP. Just do one thing a day or every other day most things can be done on line or over the phone Tax numbers etc. We just took things steady and everything just fell into place within 2-3 weeks, that way there is no stress and most people here wont do today what can be tomorrow. Join the club and go with the flow.
  11. I suppose it depends on what your lifestyle is. If you wanted partying and clubbing then no. There are more than enough supermarkets probably to many,Seaford has a small but adequate shopping centre, Port Noarlunga has a large shopping centre with plenty of shops and place to eat . Noarlunga has a pub and quite a few places to eat and drink with some quaint seaside shops Great beach and Jetty it also has a fantastic childrens playground that I think the community donated and built. It seems a popular place for childrens birthday parties on a weekend with families using the free BBQ's and gazebos. Our daughter attends Port Noarlunga Primary and loves going to school especially the PE and sports programs I think she has a minimum of 1 hr a day of physical activities. Nor does there seem to be a great panic about sats and weather they will meet the governments targets generally a lot more relaxed which you can see in the children. You may need to ask someone with 2 small infants regarding keeping them entertained but its certainly healthier lifestyle and more than suits our needs. Take yesterday Lauren and I spent the afternoon kayaking down the Onkaparinga river then messing around on the beach, a walk down to Moana and back along the beach this morning. You kind of want to do things here and the view along the esplanade at Moana makes walking a pleasure, its something we didnt do back in the UK. To be honest I dont think we have had a weekend of just sitting in the house flicking through channels. The only thing I need to change is to stop them downloading East Enders but I will work on this over the winter months.
  12. We have just completed our 1st 7 months here and our daughter loves it. We to came over for the same reasons a different lifestyle which we have got. Its one that we all love my daughter and myself love the beach activities. We very rarely watch any tv, saying that the standard of programs is very poor. It has changed a little as its dark now at 6.30 so not as many evenings spent on the beach but you do feel a lot more alive when the sun shines every day. We dont have huge group of friends but feel very settled and at home here. It also feel very safe and clean here saying that we lived in Bradford so anywhere would. No big gangs hanging around the shopping centres. I dont know if it is just me with rose coloured glasses but I have not seen anything that disturbs me. The other Friday night between 9..30-11.30 2 police officers spent 3 hrs trying to find a lost dog because there was nothing else going on. This may just of been a one off but the suburb we live in Port Noarlunga feels very safe and welcoming. I would have a look at the area if thinking of moving but there are loads of other beautiful areas as well .

    Guilt

I know what you mean but it is your life, your dream live it. We have been here 7 months now and our 11 year old daughter has stated she would not like to return to the uk. It has offered her a much more interesting lifestyle, she has come out of her shell and participates in everything the school has to offer. Especially with the sporting side she has swam in the schools competitions finished second in the schools athletics and is getting ready for the cross country. We have all made good friends and found employment. We live pretty much on the beach and enjoy it. I no longer feel guilty about improving my childs life or mine but do miss my family all the same.
  16. Hi It would be good to meet up strange that we only lived around the corner from you we lived in Thackley. We have been here 7 months now so still a stranger in town. PM me and we can arrange to meet up some time if you like.
  17. Hi we live in Port Noarlunga Sth not to far away we have a daughter the same age that attends Port Noarlunga Primary. Trev Vicki and Lauren
  18. You certainly feel a lot safer here. We came from Bradford and was always conscious of who was around you even when just shopping.
  19. I could think of a lot worse places to live and bring kids up. We live on the other side of Commercial Rd at Port Noarlunga Sth. The beaches are fantastic around here I find there is enough shops and if there isn't only 10 min from Colanades . My 10 year old daughter loves it especially the beach at Moana. Each to there own but I like the piece and quiet, good luck hope you find the right place for yourselves.
  20. I have my skills assessors qualifications but in Building and paving. Let me know if you require anyone for this sector.

    New to Adelaide

Hi. We are at Noarlunga but are from Yorkshire that lovely sunny place called Bradford. I worked over buy Goole for a few months in a little village called Rawcliffe. Hope you are settling in well.
  22. we have some but live in Noarlunga feel free to take them
  23. yep we did exactly the same. Re mortgaged it so we had some money to arrive with. quite happy to leave it rented now as we have both found jobs here and are looking to purchase a house with in the next 6 months. So to be honest its worked quite well especially with the exchange rate being so poor and house prices dropping quite fast here.
  24. We live at Port Noarlunga South. The beach is less than 100 yards, train station 5 min away. Our daughter has settled in well at Port Noarlunga Primary. It suits us very well as we all love the beach and are down there most days, saying that all the other areas are nice as well.
