  1. If you add up the costs of the visas that you have to pay diac and the medicals etc, I just found it piece of mind to have someone you could call upon to find out where you had reached in the process. Over the two years I certainly got my value out of them and a permanent visa all in all I was happy with the fee and the service. Good luck with your plan to move down under.
  2. My daughter goes to Port Noarlunga primary and loves it. Her enthusiasm for school dwindled in the UK but she seems to love going to school here. I think its a lot more relaxed with a good play ground and facilities. I wish we had looked at the one on Jane St as we live by the tennis courts on the end of the Rd, to late now as she ahas settled.
  3. Its a nice spot about 10 minutes for Port Noarlunga and the shopping centre. We went through century 21 when we came over they were great no hassle, they even let us use the shop as our address for our post. We where there last Friday evening messed around on the beach with our daughter. You can catch the train to the city easier than driving and only $2 there. some nice beaches to look at near by Port Willunga, Moana, Port Noarlunga, Christies, Aldinga.
  4. Try Micks Autos at Aldinga couldn't fault the service at all. Quite a few people on here have recommended him. Good luck.
  5. Sounds a good idea. Nothing out by trying. Trev.
  6. Its has to be one of the hardest things and even on the plane I sat there reflecting have I made the right decision. I now know we have, been here just short of 6 months and my only regret is not coming sooner . My daughter loves it here great school ,friends etc we spend most evenings at beach until sunset and weekends feel like a mini break. We have just had Australia day which I thought was great and all because of the spirit of the place, communities offering services not for financial gain but for free. Big groups of families and friends enjoying spending a day together. Adelaide doesn't offer the busy life style and attractions like Sydney , Brisbane but does offer lots of small beautiful places, beaches, towns, country side too many to name. All the best on your arrival.
  7. Feel free to message me Dan. I am down your end on Wednesday. PM me and I will give you my contact details.
  8. there are soccer clubs all over and to be honest they seem to be run very professionally. Many have great facilities and club houses with qualified coaches.
  9. I would assist can you pm me the details. i also have Ute to get any extras on should you need.
  10. I think I would hold out there will be a lot of money pouring into the UK over the next year with the olympics. Which should ease the coffers a little with all the tourists spending money and they should have plenty to spend with the exchange rate being so good in their favour.
  11. Every one seems to say that but I see new house going up daily not huge sites but individual private dewllings. Most of these house are timber framed so probably in the best trade to ride through. This only my personal opinion though. Good look for when you get here.
  12. Great news . It takes a lot of pressure off.The first couple of months you just seem to spend and spend there is always something you want or need. All the best for when you arrive.
  13. We live at Noarlunga Sth. We have been here 5 month and can't find a bad word to say. Great beaches easy access to the city, decent shopping centre and a great community feel especially at Christmas with the parade and football club. People seem very friendly.
  14. We stayed there the one at t3 with the pool. Excellent especially if you have kids it breaks up the day for them. its a bit like a hotel resort pool with the bar and being outside. The Airports massive plenty of shops, cafes etc. We where there13 hrs and it flew by plus the fact you only have around 7 hrs flight to Adelaide.
  15. yes you will need a tax file number and possibly a ABN . Good luck.
  16. Just pm you a job advert I have seen today good luck
  17. Its a great place. We finished work today had tea cleaned up and still a couple of hours on Moana beach until sunset, . The best way I can describe it is having a champagne lifestyle with lemonade pockets. I know my daughter is settling in well as she says she doesn't want to go back, and the smile on her face down at the beach is fantastic. I believe it's a place where kids can be kids without the pressure to grow up to fast. We have just completed 4 month now and have loved every minute so far. All the best with the job front.
  18. I have had the same with my sister she cant be bothered to send a Xmas card and we have only been here 4 month. A friend that moved years before us said you will end up with 4-5 people who will stay in touch. So far he has been correct 2 sets of parents and the odd friend on face book.

    welcome

Hi Phill . Where abouts are you from in West Yorks ,we moved here 4 months ago from tropical Bradford. I didnt think you had to pass the IELTS test for building trades things must have changed. They say the building work has cooled off but I still see new houses going up and most are timber framed ,so you are possibly in the best trade. Good luck with your test. All the best Trev.
  22. We went to the airport on our own as none of us could of really have coped with upset of leaving close family and friends. I t was still hard knowing once you where through the departure gates that's it. We have now been here 4 month and not had a down point yet. Both managed to find jobs my daughter has settled into her new school well (port noarlunga primary). Just completed our 1st xmas a quiet one just the 3 of us but still a good one. Lifes pretty much what you make here . Its a new fresh start enjoy it put the effort in to do and see things and its great.
  23. Morphettville is a good place for horses.
  24. We flew with Singapore airlines they were fantastic . We had a 13hr stop over in Singapore, so we booked into the T3 hotel at the airport. I think it cost around £100 for the 3 of us, great to get your head down on a bed and you also get use of the outdoor pool, which kills plenty of time if you have kids.
