    Cat question

We brought two cats with us aged 9yrs and 8yrs. They coped very well with both the flight and quarantine. Spend their days basking in the sun now.
  7. I watched that film recently and found it very distressing and difficult to watch. Its so hard to believe that such a harsh and cruel policy existed . I found it hard to understand the rational for the deportation of these poor children......so bloody cruel!!!!!!!
  8. Hello we came over in September 2011 with Qantas on a 457 visa and got 40kg baggage allowance each (two adults ,two large suitcases each).
  9. Hello yes we brought two cats with us.... approx 30 days spent in quarantine...they've settled really well and seem to spend their days snoozing in the sun!!! Cost appox two and a half grand all in!!!
  10. As a politician I'd have thought she would have more pressing issues to discuss than BO and queue jumping!!!
  11. We rented from Donna Jacobs at Kingston Park.....great apartment in an excellent location and a very good service overall. $700 a week.
  12. Yes we are....really looking forward to it. Never managed to get tickets in the UK.
  13. AHPRA took eight months to sort out my registration last year!!! Hopefully they've got their act together and are sorting out applications more quickly. Good luck

    Funny Movies

Withnail and I. More recently Bridesmaids.
  15. Had a picnic on the beach Christmas Eve watching the sunset. Worked from 1.30pm to 10.30pm Christmas day......a very easy going and relaxed shift.
  16. At least we're lucky enough to have water that is safe to drink...........in plenty of countries they don't!!!
  17. 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin'.....made me cry but a great read
  18. Although these books are not new I have enjoyed reading them over the years and found them very moving :'Birdsong' S Faulks ,'The Kiter Runner' and 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' Khaled Hosseini and 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven' Mitch Albom. Douglas Kennedy is a good read too.
  19. We didn't come with 'buckets loads of cash' and also 'gave up a lot of things to start a new life', but personally I find it really hard to accept that people expect centrelink benefits when they haven't contributed to the system!!!!. Immigrants in the UK are given a really hard time for relying on state benefits!!! Many of them are leaving countries facing terrible hardship etc
  20. You'd be lucky to get a nursing post in the UK at the moment, very few and far between. Especially permanent posts. I read an article recently suggesting that the Tories are planning to get rid of 56,000 nurses. Colleagues back in the UK have informed me that vacant posts are not being filled!!!!!! I left in August this year and have not been replaced ......4 others left at the same time and have also not been replaced. As a top band 6 in Uk Im earning lots more as a level 1 year 9 over here and have to say the conditions and workload are significantly better .
  21. Me and my partner had our medicals back in March in Manchester. Both had eye test, chest x ray, reflexes ,urine test, weight, height,BP. As a nurse I had to have blood tests and as a female over 40 a breast exam. Very straight forward and not something to dread. Blood tests for HIV,Hep b etc.
  22. I work in health. The shifts are 9hrs long with 30mins for a meal break and also a 10mins tea break. We work 9 days a fortnight and have every other weekend off. This is really good compared to my working conditions in health in the UK.
  23. I've flown with Qantas twice ,good choice of films, programmes etc, helpful and friendly staff, food reasonable.I would fly with them again.
