  1. Good luck, deep breaths and don't go to loo between every section like I did! Cheers Gill

    KLM or Finnair??

Hi My OH recently flew with KLM from China to Scotland and thought they were great, but may have been swayed by the upgrade on the longest flight! Gill x
  3. Congratulations! What a wait, well done at staying sane! You'll need to change your mood avatar! Gill x
  4. Great news! Not long now! Good luck to the rest of you, doesn't make any sense why some people are dealt with quickly and others are put through the wringer! Gill x

Oh barb how awful! Did they say if ts common to get false positive? They must think it's worth redoing test? Best of luck and big hug Gill x
  8. Hi

We leave Scotland on 9th Aug and arrive the 11th! Cannot wait, have finished work this week, have shipping leaving next week and move out to my mums week after for four weeks! We thought we would rehome cat, but having decided to take her with us feel very relieved, doubt she cares but I do! Would be great to meet up once we know where to go!

    Gill x

  9. Congratulations! We've booked with Singapore airlines too, are very excited! Have just changed our minds and have decided to bring our cat so frantically getting quotes! We've booked a house in Port Noarlunga with homes down under with Tamara who has been fab! Ooh it's never ending isn't it! Good Luck! Gill and Mal x
  10. Hi Steve, welcome to the crazy visa journey! I have asked some downright stoopid questions and always got an answer, this forum has soothed my nerves! Good Luck Gill x
  11. Well I'm sad too, it still makes me smile looking at mine! Gill x;)
  12. I also regretted having to tell my manager, but for ANMC skills assessment I needed a written reference detailing my skills and job specifications from my manager, and a C.V signed by my manager, so was kinda hard to hide it! Gill
  13. Hi I was asked to talk about a travel experience, and had just got back from getting married in mauritius, but somehow ended up telling lovely lady about vomiting on my wedding day! Was a bit stumped at one question though- 'how did I think T.V had improved my English??' Somehow ended up discussing Home and Away? Very random! Gill
  14. Hi Lisa I'm pretty sure if you haven't given a date to leave yet then they have to treat you equally, but suppose may be difficult to prove thats why you didn't get on course? I have had the joy (not) of working with my replacement (although she is lovely!) for the last six months (before i even had a visa!) and now have only six shifts left thank god! My previous manager was no bother at all but got new one six months ago who brought my repalcement with her!It is hard to explain how awkward it made me feel, the constant 'so you'll be leaving once visa through'. NO i need to sell our flat, and eventually just said I would decide when I was leaving! Without a definite date to leave they certainly shouldn't be discriminating cos who knows why or when plans may change? Problem in this financial climate is that will be easy to explain that not enough study money to go around? Stick to your guns though, and brazen it out, it's your life to decide when you'll go! Are you in a union? Gill x
  15. Hi, Oh just the word Ielts brings back my anxiety! All I can say is it wasn't as bad as I thought, try to relax in speaking bit, the reading bit I found easier to read question then look for answers rather than read the random text. Oh and I was allowed to the loo between sections thank god! It all goes very fast! Good luck ! Gill x
  16. Hi Can I just say thanks to you expressing exactly how i'm feeling tonight! Mostly I have been very excited, and all plans coming together, but had a wee spanner in the works tonight and felt like the end of the world! Not helped by OH managing to avoid all organising by being in Japan, or by the wine i have consumed this evening! Have six shifts left at work then feel will be able to concentate on the important stuff. We've all got this far, just have to keep going! Gill x
  17. Oh dear, I fear come august I'll be a fishing widow! Gill
  18. Hi, I feel for you, i thought each bit was the worst bit! But I found selling our flat the worst and wished we'd put it on the market before getting our visa! Good luck, only takes one person to want it Gill
  19. Congatulations! Great feeling to be nearly free to go! Gill and mal xx
  20. I know, ridiculously lucky! Wanted a 30 yr old local divorcee, and got thirty yr old loca just split with boyfriend! Turned down her first offer and spent rest of day feeling sick but she upped it, thank god! Good luck, it's a nightmare just keeping place clean in case someone wants to see it, isn't it! Gill x
  21. Hi Cara, keep up the good work! Can you turn us purple, we've sold flat in a week and booked our flights for august 9th with Sinagpore Airlines, bit emotional! thanks Gill and Mal xx
  22. Fantastic news! Well done! Gill and mal xx
  23. Hi Cara, Great idea, need a new thread to keep us amused while waiting to move! planning to move: ?august area: somewhere from port noarlunga south. Flights booked: when flat sells, expecting an offer this week ,lets hope its good! How terrifying/ exciting!!! Gill and Mal xx
  24. Thanks everyone, That gives me a clearer idea. It's good to know some people do the trip, as don't want to limit my job pospects! Think we will also start considering other areas, but liked the look of the South. Wanted to check as I remember on my first trip to Oz when I was going to Sydney, that I thought I would be able to drive up to Brisbane for the weekend! Oz maps are very misleading to my scottish brain! Thanks again Gill
