  1. Thanks heap good, will try and get them to explain it! Gillx
  2. Hi, yes we brought no claim bonus of seven years plus, which made insurance cheaper but didn't stop inexperienced driver excess if accident my fault, apparently as they don't count the years of uk license? very confusing! We're also with Allianz, which crash repairer says is one of the better ones. Gill x
  3. Hello, Not sure if it's just our insurance company but we have just discovered we are classed as inexperienced drivers for first two years of our Aussie license! And as I have just had a fight with a bollard in McD's this means an added excess of $500! (my first accident ever in 12 years, honest!) Seems an addiction to frozen coke is a dangerous thing, oh and an inability to read insurance policies thoroughly! Gill x
  4. Hi, I have a kindle which I also thought I'd hate (was my work leaving gift) but love love love it! Hubbie has Sony e reader as he doesn't want to be tied to amazon (?), he likes it, and the touch screen, but I think I see a tiny wee flicker when I look at it, I have a ridiculously sensitive migraine head! Also think touch screen would be bad for me reading in bed and falling asleep on screen! Gill x
  5. Working late on eve, early shift on new years day. Bit of a bummer but I do get to wake all my patients wishing them a happy new year, which frankly for most of them has to be better than last year! Happy Hogmanay when it comes! Gill x
  6. Hi, There is a casual EN who does a lot of shifts on my ward who works at Burnside. She really likes it. All the best Gill x
  7. Woo hoo! Congratulations! Strange feeling isn't it?! Not long till you move, where are you going to be working? Gill x

    Black pudding.

Hi Diana, How strange as we saw some today! And Scottish square sausage! In the deli type shop next to Coles in the Noarlunga Collonades. We thought we'd get some for chrimbo! Gill x
  9. Hello, This is a bit 'ooh my diamond shoes are hurting my toes and my tiara is too tight'! I think I am about to be offered a new job with RDNS and can't decide if I should leave my current job!! My current job is on a stroke/ neuro ward which is really my specialty but is a long drive, expensive parking and involves some night shifts which I hate! New job means mon to fri, but not nearly as flexible if need other days off, and am worried about being a bit boring and a bit lonely? I had a community job in uk before and was bored after a few years but wasnt hands on and wasn't in this gorgeous country! Weekends off would be good as means I could join clubs etc, but doesnt make much difference at home as oh either home or away working? When I told current boss about new job she said she would try to do anything she could to keep me and said that she planned to have me moved into a certain role in the future, but that's not actually a contract is it? Keep going over everything and still can't decide!!! Whaaaaa!! Suppose a bit of it is I have settled a wee bit into my currrent job in three months, and with all the changes of emigrating I am worried about another new thing! Not really expecting anyone to have an answer, just trying to sort it all in my head Thanks for listening, unless you gave up half way and you're not reading this! Gill x
  10. Wow busy first week! We also stayed in Tamaras' Irvine Street house, then decided we couldn't bear to leave area either! Good luck with house hunting, it's an eyeopener! Gill x
  11. Hi, We brought our xbox 360 out from Scotland three months ago, and as hubbies birthday soon was going to buy him a new game. Will the Australian games work on our console? Thanks if anyone knows, Gill x
  12. Ooh it'd be a miracle but I'm off 27th so we could come too! Gill and Mal x

  17. Hi Lisa Don't be too hard on yourself, I am just about getting over the flu and it has made me so miserable, never mind the other illnesses you've had on top of that. Hope your health settles down and you can get on with the fun stuff! Diane, that helped me to know I'm not going mad as two months into the move my emotions change a thousand times a day! (not helped by flu and hubbie going off to work in Germany before i have any friends ) Gill x
  18. Hi, I don't find driving in bad from noarlunga, but if I'm too close to 4 pm on the way home I do get stuck on south road, which is a pain! I do find the driving a bit erratic but as a fairly terrible driver myself am enjoying the wacky races! As I also now drive an automatic my hubbie says it's like I'm at the dodgems! I chose to take this as a compliment Gillx

    We are not Poms

Hi Never sure if we are poms either being Scottish? Nobody seems to mind either way! Good luck with your plans Gill x
  20. Yep, Mozzies for us too! We had just had first barbie! Next day my feet and hubbies legs had big swollen bites! After suspicious looks at the cat, and bad thoughts about the kangaroos at cleland park, we confirmed with Aussie friends that they were mozzie bites! Think we have bought every anti mozzie product available! Gill x
  21. Good luck! Hope the calm remains! Let me know how interview goes? Looking forward to a coffee (or glass of wine!) when you get settled!Gill x
  22. Hi, As title says just wanting to pick the brain of anyone who has worked for RDNS. Are they a good employer? What hours do nurses work, and what is the salary like? They have job adverts just now for full, part time and casual, so thinking of applying? Thanks for any advice Gill x
  23. Sounds good Sharon, been meaning to try it for ages but will definetly be giggling at myself if can breathe! Gill x
  24. Ooh where is that? I have a day off so would be good to get my exercise over for the day! What do to need to take for zumba? I'm a rumba virgin, by concerned about my clumsiness! Gill x
  25. Hi, Amazing detailed reply posts! We got our long term rental after a week of looking, could move in the week after, we had booked our holiday let for three weeks so had few days overlap which worked out well for kitting out new home! There wasn't any more than one other couple/ family at open viewings we were at, but sat nav definetly helped get between two or three all at pretty much the same time! We got only house we filled application in for, no rental references, gave my friend in brisbane, who I haven't seen for ten years! They did phone her and the owner of the short term let, who we had known a week, she could only really confirm we'd paid! We have lovely 3 bed villa in port noarlunga south, one back from esplanade, very happy and settled. It wasn't nearly as bad as we worried! Good luck Gill x
