  1. Hi, Well, anywhere I get work, but am really a neuro/ stroke nurse so probably the RAH? I believe there is also neuro rehab in a hospital near there, but imagine I would be very lucky to get exact job I want! Thanks Gill
  2. Hi Please excuse my Scottish idea of distance, I live in a country you can drive from top to bottom in a day! We have been looking at living around Port Noarluga area, well South of the City anyway, but as a nurse I don't want to limit my work prospects in hospitals when I first arrive, so is it too far to drive to hospitals North of the City? Would hope eventually to get a job near where I live but would first take just about anything! I would rather live where I prefer and commute, but am I being silly with the distances? Thanks for any info Gill :daydreaming:
  3. Congratulations! Hope you're breaking open some bubbly! Gill and Mal x
  4. What a wait! Congratulations!!!! Gill and mal x
  5. Yep, I think I get asked every day about it, even by patients and relatives who I have never spoken to before! Must be boring gossip month at my hospital! I could do without my manager asking when I'm resigning every day ( my replacement has already started!) as I have no day yet just vaguely aiming for July! Gill x
  6. Thanks everyone! It's much more of a warm fuzzy feeling than excitement of a c.o! Can't believe I can stop checking my online status and get some sleep! Although now the work begins, all the small diy jobs need done to get our flat on the market! Cheers Gill and Mal x
  7. Hello! Got our 176 visa yesterday, thanks so much everyone who posts and answers our questions, or who kept us going with their stories! Sorry in advance that we will now be asking more questions! (mainly about fishing!) Gill and Mal
  8. Hi I was ridiculously nervous but there was no need, pretty basic general questions, lovely staff in Edinburgh, who say they are really just looking for big expensive diseases or infections. Good luck, Gill x
  9. Congratulations! Hope its now celebrating that keeps you awake! Gill x
  10. Hi, Congratulations! We have our medicals in Edinburgh on Monday, they must be busy! Good luck Gill and Mal x
  11. Hi If doing anmc first for skills assessment, you need to do IELTS, i think you can register with ahpra first then can do modified assessment, slightly cheaper but probably longer! Good luck with anyone doing IELTS soon Gill x
  12. Hi, I did the full assessment with anmc first and they still need an IELTS, slightly more expensive to do this route for p.r, but then you can apply for visa while waiting for the ahpra to get back to you months later! Gill x
  13. Hi, Any idea why some people get a 'in principle' letter and others get straight on register? I have a registration number and can see myself on register on line on ahpra website, but it also menas I have the joy () of re registering in May, which will be before I even get to Oz! If you have an in priciple letter I take it you don't have to reregister in May? Gill x
  14. Hi, I was emailed and asked to provide proof of change of name (marriage certificate, although you would have thought the passport id page would have done!), c.v and proof of continuing professional development. When I applied to the anmc I got my manager to sign it, which seemed odd, then I also read it was a mistake, so only I signed it as true and correct for the ahpra. Cheers Gill x
  15. Hi Mine took four months, applied in early september. They contacted me in October to say my anmc hadn't yet been received in Sydney, which wasn't suprising as I had sent my application to Melbourne? God knows why it ended up in Sydney! Good luck, Gill x
  16. Hi Lesley, We're 1130 and 1200 so maybe see you on our way out! Good luck, that's some round trip! Gill and Mal x
  17. Hello! We didn't use an agent and haven't found it too hard so far, and we have got to point of medicals and police checks for our c.o. There is loads of info out there, and apart from double and triple checking applications, the biggest pain was getting some of the documents which I figure I would have had to do for the agent anyway? Gill x
  18. Congratulations! gorgeous name! Gill and Mal x
  19. Congratulations! We're still excited about ours, waiting to do medicals on march 7th (first appt we could get in edinburgh!) good luck to everyone next week! Gill and Mal x

Hi We're booked in edinburgh for March and the prices the same as yours. I also need the two extra hep b and c tests! Looks on 'poms in oz' that England a bit cheaper but the cost of getting there would make it the same or dearer, think they're taking advantage of the monopoly in Scotland and Wales? Still worth it anyway, hope they're nice to us for this money Gill
  23. Far from famous but I got myself! As an attendee at a very boring meeting unfortunately! Gill
  24. Hi! It must be awful! I'm struggling and I'm at least a year behind you. I've not seen many medical/nurse folk getting a visa or a CO on the forums, is it a conspiracy? Gill x
