Hi Guys,

 

I'm starting a new thread for Australia citizenship. We can discuss here about

1. The new rules (4 years and 8 years of wait time since PR) due on July 1st 2018

2. Processing time

3. Citizenship Test

4. Documents, etc

 

You can add more list if anything comes in your mind regarding Australian Citizenship

A bill has not been introduced yet, so the old rules and legislation still apply. Not to say they will not attempt to introduce a bill by then, and vote on it. Even if that were the case then I am sure 01 July 2018 would still be too early. I have a feeling that a new bill may still be introduced but it may look a bit different to the previous proposals. We will wait and see. Not sure it would be a popular move by the coalition before the next Federal election which may not be that far off!

No way mate I only apply for 887 PR in a few months but obviously have a lot of interest in the citizenship legislation, and politics in general

Just read the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee report regarding the citizenship bill. It recommends the senate not to pass the bill. Good news for us.

I am planning to apply end December 2019. I have heard that Original copy of Birth Cert is required . Is that true ?

Also a light-question to start with, have you any idea whether the processing time for a citizenship application would depend on the state that you are applying from? For instance, could an application from someone in NT take shorter to process from applying until the conferral than someone from, say NSW?
