  1. We had a baby in between application and moving. We just added him on as another dependent to my husbands 475 visa. Didn't cost any more for the visa but he did have to have a medical too xxx
  2. I know nothing about the man other than what he's famous for. Frankly, that's irrelevant and my thoughts are still with him and his family. Sidesteps comments are surplus to requirements here.... a case of 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'.
  3. There should be. My children are also scared of dogs due to bad experience and I hate that the animals seem to have more right of way on a beach than us! My kids want to play football and cricket without some hound trying to join in. And I have yet to see any parent let their child sh*t on the beach without clearing it up, yet dog owners seem to get away with it on a daily basis. It's disgusting.
  4. Sorry, but this is a joke. Who takes offence to being called a Pom and then posts in a forum called Poms in Adelaide??
  5. The sooner the better. Age doesn't come into it really. There will never be a 'perfect' time. Don't waste time waiting
  6. Do you have a pic of sun loungers? Would u sell separately?
  7. lol, person I was thinking of has a 6 year old! So no worries xx
  8. I am entertaining the idea of moving, but this really hinges around the choice of primary school for my youngest kids. My eldest will start Sacred Heart Middle school next year (Mitchell Park - off of Daws Rd). I am very keen to get some feedback and opinions on good/ bad primary schools in the suburbs surrounding the middle school. I don't know anyone whose kids are or have attended schools in these areas so it is very hard to know where to start! Am open to public and private options. I'd prefer to stay on the more southern side and can't really afford to live in the beach suburbs. Like the idea of the foothills though. Any advice/ guidance appreciated, Cheers, Jo xx
  9. We passed in August - still not got a ceremony date
  10. Nope :-( I've had it in Sydney and you can buy it in Cairns and Melbourne. They'll get here eventually! I was in Cairns last weekend and had a tub of Peanut Brittle flavour..... worth going just for that I reckon ;-)
  11. My kids go there. I'm moving my eldest early to private middle school as I have not been impressed. I have since joined governing council and my opinions remain the same (if not worse!). If I could get my kids into Woodend (zoned) primary then I would in a heartbeat. I don't feel that the R-12 or the south school are any better. Not the best schools in this area. Which is a shame as there is a lot going for it otherwise
  12. 4 years from arrival. We have just got ours. We were here 2 yrs as temporary residents, 2 years+ now as permanent residents. For us, not much significance in being a citizen. Yes I can now apply for a student loan for my course, but on the flip side, we have to vote, hahaha. Other than that, no real difference. Unless you wanna work in defence perhaps. Oh, and it stops us having to pay to renew our visa.
  13. I second Marion Leisure and fitness
  14. Ouch! Membership would be cheaper surely? I have been a member of a few gyms here, ranging from $9 - $12 per week, unlimited classes/ gym/ swim/ crèche etc. Pay as you go is so expensive. I'm at the new aquatic centre now (I do get 40% discount though). No tie in contract there either. You can get fitness classes on some of the deals websites if you use them - scoopon/ groupon/ living social etc.
  15. OSHC care varies in price. Ours is going up to $30 for after school only, not sure what before school costs. $50 for vacation care days
  16. I always buy reduced bread.... it isn't stale and lasts perfectly well for the 3-4 days it takes my tribe to munch through it. I'm GF also, so prefer to actually eat other things than pay the $7 for a small loaf. That said, occasionally my Woolies has that reduced too and then I might buy it. But I freeze it and it probably lasts me 6 weeks.... I just don't eat it anymore!
  17. Ouch! We are AGL with a 10% discount and 1/4 of that price. I'd be double checking if I were you..... might be worth checking your appliances etc to see what is burning up so much energy!
  18. We are also a family of 5: Gas $180 Elec $385
  19. Any chance you'd sell the Eiffel tower chairs separately?
  20. We just applied online with 2 of our kids having expired UK passports. We were sent overnight a date for our test. It did not specify 'current' passport. So I'm hoping it's ok!!
  21. $5 only for 6 books and 1 DVD. Pm for details.
