Sorry to be downer; I dont think you can extend 489 visa; please check this link https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-provisional-489/extended-stay-pathway#About; Also i would highly recommend checking this either directly with DIBP or migration agent probably you might find something positive.

Grant letter would mention last date of entry in Australia; as long as he/she has adhered to timeline its fine.

Hi emadh,

The residency period would start from November date (given that your friend can prove it with home lease etc).

Otherwise its not problem.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your information

My friend said he have the residency proof(lease agreement from 15 feb)

Is it alright?

Please advise

It's terrible, no word to describe our situation. When we had more applicant, processing time was extended. Now we don't have much applicant they stop processing our file. They don't care about us. 887 is not on the priority list either. Seams like we are in a trap, don't know how to get over it.

they want us the stay in reginal as long as possible

Its not just about staying in regional area; my daughter has to go to Uni next year and she will be treated International student till we don't get PR. There is huge difference in fee domestic vis-à-vis International student.

I  feel so sorry to everyone, we used to able to walk in to the immigration office, and even request to talk to the CO directly over the phone. I remember once I called the CO in Sydney Office to notify her that I have purchased my OSHC and I got grant 10 mins after...

Now nothing we can do

Time to prioritize 887, we only wanna be treated fairly. Same as the 189 applicants. Yes we might have less points when we apply for visa, but we have more work experiences and we fit in well in the OZ society, we all come a long way 😞

@nudgee If only immigration/DIBP hear us...which is like a far away dream for most of us here...

Lease agreement, rental ledger, rental receipts, bank statements, utility bills like gas, electricity and internet.

They know exactly which state sponsored you, remember that they granted your 489 visa with a sponsorship, all of that is connected to your passport and/or visa number.
